2020 Clay Shannon Pinot Noir
Long Valley Ranch
WINE DESCRIPTION
There is something special about the Long Valley Ranch. Located in the western most corner of a 5 mile long trans-verse valley, it's tucked amongst the fertile valley floor between two 3,000 ft mountain ranges. Organically farmed since 2019, the Vineyard is planted on Lupoyoma and Wolf creek silt loam from Long Valley creek on a VSP trellis. We bring the fruit in early in September and ferment it at 87˚F. Once dry, it's pressed lightly, and press fractions are kept separate until evaluated. We then lay it down in 25% new French oak from Radoux, Demptos and Seguin Moreaux, for a minimum of 16 months.
Garnet in color. Aromas of fresh plum & cherry pie. On the palate, flavors of vanilla, dried cherry and sweet tobacco. Mid-weight and balanced acidity. A versatile, food-friendly wine.
