The 2019 13 Rams is a luscious red blend that excites both the nose and the palate. The fruit forward aromas of blackberries, cherries, and strawberries are complimented with subtle chocolate and spice undertones. The soft approach of matured tannins contributes a weight your mouth can appreciate. That weight combines with a balanced acidity that will elevate any pairing. This wine is ready to drink now with friends and family now, or it can be cellared for a later celebration.
We consult with the past in confronting the challenges of today. Early farming traditions inspire us to reinvent our agricultural approach. Part of our Project Ovis, 13 Rams is a testimony to conservation and regenerative farming. The name is inspired by the use of sheep in our vineyards, where the flock is propagated by 13 rams. The past carries forgotten wisdom, and 13 Rams serves as a celebration of that knowledge.
VINTAGE NOTES
2019 was a wet spring followed by a mild summer. It was ideal for long hang time and getting phenolic ripeness. Early season frost singed low areas but cooled off all northern locations and allowed for extended hang time of our Cabernet and Petite Sirah.
Acids remained naturally higher this vintage and brix were slow to accumulate until they spiked at the end of the season. Power shutoffs made pressing and pumping grapes difficult. In the end we got all the fruit in and made some beautiful wines for the mild season.
